Are We Fit to Excel?

“If a man hasn’t discovered something that he will die for, he isn’t fit to live.”  Martin Luther King Jr.

Are we fit to live?  Have we discovered or created a compelling dream, an inspiring vision or monumental mission?  Have we truly committed ourselves to our mission?  Are you willing to sacrifice what is necessary to get to our ultimate desires?

One of the easiest ways to determine a person’s commitment level is by seeing what they are willing to give up for it.  We may have a goal to get fit, but are we willing to say no to the extra scoop of ice cream or that “snack” we just feel like munching on?  We may be determined to increase the effectiveness of our marketing, but are we willing to wake up a little earlier or go to bed a little later?  We may have the perfect idea for a new product or service, but are you going to shut off the TV or walk away from Twitter or Facebo to work an extra couple of hours?

Most people live far below the level of success and achievement they should be enjoying.  Lack of total commitment causes people to become less than who we truly are.  And while we may not actually have to sacrifice everything for our dream, if we aren’t willing to give up portions of your life for it, it will most likely stay a dream forever.

Life often steals our dreams a few minutes and a few commitments at a time.  What we say yes to is often just as important as what you say no to.  The more we define our goals and desires the easier it becomes to say both yes and no to the appropriate activities.

By having a dream we are willing to give everything for we will actually discover we have so much that we can accomplish during our time here on planet Earth!  Let’s do it!
